Too lazy to blog fully, so here’s a quick recap of our trip:
- Bus got delayed by 5 hours (4 hours at border). Don’t know why because I slept through it
- Lunch at Potbelly in Union Station
- Checked in at Doubletree, yay for free cookies upon check-in. Checked into 4sq for Top Guest points as well
- Back out to the National Mall and met up with some of our other friends. Went to Washington Monument, Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, WW2 Memorial
- Up to U Street for dinner: Oohs and Aahs (soul food), Dukem (Ethiopian), Alero (a drink), Ben’s Chili Bowl (half smokes). Yes that was one long meal.
- Visited the new Shake Shack that opened in DC
- Caught a glimpse of the White House
- Went to Smithsonians: Air and Space museum, National Art Gallery and Museum of Natural History
- Headed over to Jaleo for Spanish Tapas
- Over to Rocket Bar in Chinatown before calling it a night
- Went to the Pentagon on Monday morning, couldn’t take pictures except at the Pentagon memorial
- Visited Arlington Cemetery and took their tour. Too hot to walk around under the sun.
- Back into the city and around Capitol hill area.
- Uno Bar and Grill (from Chicago again) for lunch
- Smithsonian Postal Museum to kill some time
- MARC train to BWI
- Flight ended up being delayed twice, then delayed again after boarding as the fuel truck ran out of fuel
- Back home – customs didn’t even ask us any questions!
