My interest in photography isn’t really constant. Sometimes, I’m really interested and sometimes I think it’s dumb and wonder why I invest the money and time. I think one of the reasons is you can’t have too much of a good thing. When I go on trips and take photos like mad, I start off worrying about maxing out my memory cards at the rate I’m taking photos, but eventually I taper of because I’m tired of working for my pictures and carrying a camera around that isn’t compact.
Sometimes, photography does seem like work, usually when I have to go through the process of sorting, tagging and organizing my photos. So, it’s because of this that I wonder whether I’m doing photography because my profile suggests I should (twentysomething, urban, blogger, closetcreative) or if I really like it.
Then, there are times when my interest builds suddenly. I learn about and experiment with a new post processing method (hello tilt-shift, lomo), see some doable and motivational photos, or just starting taking photos after a hiatus. I can really get into it, especially if I start browsing eBay (hmm still need a 50mm f/1.8 for cheap).
Recently, I grew tired of taking photos after travelling too much, but have renewed my interest due to a new effect. Horace, Aaronisian, Jeb & I have been talking about (and actually) starting a photoblog. I think the community involvement is spurring me to go on more photographic endeavours (at least until it feels like work)! I could never get into something like Flickr because the community there is too large, so doing it with friends is much better.
