We did a lot of stuff in January! Well it seems like we did, but it probably took a long time to do it. Once we got back from vacation, we began work on outfitting the house again. We were able to do some “boxing week” shopping and bought a set of matching lights for the kitchen. One set is “up” but not really fully working – because I intend to outfit them with LEDs instead of halogens (4W vs 50W per light!) and it takes a LONG time to ship from China. And we’ll put the matching set up once we get enough bulbs to shift over.
We also spent a lot of time shopping for a sofa. If sofa buying was an assignment, we pulled an all-nighter but handed in the assignment on time. We ended up buying one last Wednesday, and they delivered it last Friday. Originally, I preferred ordering a custom-built one from China, but in the end we settled on one in stock from a Canadian company (the alternative was waiting until almost May for delivery!)
During the weekdays, I spent the first part of the month going through all my vacation things (still haven’t gone through the movies yet), and then I had the bright idea of writing a game for Android. That has taken a lot of work and time in the last three weeks, it’s released now and “works” but I still have many ideas on how to improve it. I also bought an Android tablet and was messing around with that, but it’s not as usable as I thought it would be so I’m waiting for hackers to release a better ROM or a working Froyo build.
In news, there was a shooting and attempted murder of a governor in Arizona, and at the end of the month there was turmoil in Egypt as the government shut down the internet. That’s still developing so we’ll see what happens!
