The government has finally caught up to me, and are making me replace my red+white health card. I’ve been using my health card with pride, even though the clear plastic is coming off and my signature is a bit childish; but because I don’t have a health card with a picture, I have true old-school cred.

So it’s sad, but inevitable, that the government has caught up to me. I think they are going through the population by last name, so your time may be up soon too. The only hassle is that you can’t go to any government office to get your new health card, you have to setup an appointment before you can do it — or so I thought; because after I made my appointment, I showed up at your generic government office. Plus, the “appointment” is pretty useless, as you end up in the same line as everyone else; although you do end up in a priority queue. I suppose they use appointments so the priority queue doesn’t get filled up.

So my old health card is now cancelled and I have a sheet of paper that is just as meaningless and identity-theft capable as my original card (at least for 6 weeks).
