Stop and smell the roses is the mantra of In Priase of Slow: How a Worldwide Movement is Challenging the Cult of Speed. In this day and age, where efficiancy is the name of the game, the author feels that we don’t enjoy what life has to offer anymore, and that we should! He goes on to explain why slow food (organic), exercise, cities, and various other ideas are better for a person than the corporate, capitalist world we live in.
Instead of the cult of speed, I think this book is advertising the cult of hippies. The ideas that the book advocates are great if one has a lot of money and a lot of time, but in the world that we live in, people can’t afford that luxury. This book seems tailored to be a success with liberal people, and while I share the opinion of some ideas in this book, I think it is too idealist.
