I’m not going back to real school, but I signed up for Mandarin classes in the summer. They’re weekly on Saturdays which cuts into summer activities, and from 9-12 in the mornings. It’s bad that I will have to wake up early, but also good because I still have the rest of the day free.

Why would I do such a thing? Sure there is all that China-is-the-future blah blah, but I don’t expect to (or maybe only) learn enough to deal with all the Mandarin-speaking help at restaurants nowadays; especially since I am taking baby Mandarin. One tangible benefit is that I will be part-time student and get a $120 tax credit each month. But really, language classes is now, officially, the new Warcraft Rock Climbing. I think on last count there will be 6 of us losing out on sleep (Pauline, Victor, Victor, Ben, Janet). Who else is up for it?
