When I read in the Globe and Mail today about teen bedrooms looking like airplane cockpits, complete with “computers, cellphones, MP3 players, video game consoles and televisions”; I can’t help but think that there are describing my room.
Perhaps it’s a side effect of not having these luxuries when I was in high school (well I guess that’s not true, just not to that extent) but sometimes I feel I belong more to these connected teens of the MySpace generation than to the one finishing up school and starting my career.
Not to say that I am stuck in a Peter Pan fantasy. Maybe I’m just growing as society is. When Prozzäk released their first album, Hot Show, their music was the essence of Pop music at that time. Even their characters, Simon and Milo were young, colourful, and cartoonish. Now 8 years later, with the release of Cruel Cruel World; Simon, Milo and their music have grown with the times to be more mellow and refined.
Back in high school, I liked Prozzäk and I like their style now. Maybe I’m growing up with society and welcoming the changes in lifestyle brought on by technological change? So much for being old fashioned.
