Today, I accomplished another checkpoint on my road to graduation. Actually, it has been quite awhile since my earlier (and only) checkpoints, which I guess should be the completion of my course requirements. Yep; I finished that almost a year ago.
So today, I did my Masters seminar. Usually, the seminar is announced to the public, and anyone can show up for the hour-long presentation. There is not much pressure (compared to PhD level) since it’s not a defense but rather an exercise in “communication”. My seminar was not announced and I presented to three people; that’s including the 2 required faculty members!
That may sound lame to you, but it’s not really unexpected. First, my seminar was “confidential” so it wasn’t announced. Secondly, it was more convenient for the required people (i.e., markers and me) to have the seminar at IBM, so it wasn’t like people from Waterloo could have attended anymore.
In any case, I am glad that it’s done and I can move on to the next checkpoint; handing in my thesis for review. Here’s to hoping it won’t take another year, otherwise I will have to phrase it into my New Year’s Resolution.
