the sun here is fucking crazy!! every afternoon it’s hella hot and you can’t see anything if you’re facing the general direction of the sun. otoh at night there are no street lights so you can’t see a thing, but fortunately they have reflectors on the road like they do in northern ontario.

it’s funny to read articles online about so and so, what they’re doing or what they’re thinking; and then seeing the people that were namechecked in real life hosting meetings or what not. it’s almost like meeting a celebrity, but in a very geeky way.

there are lots of big tall evergreen trees everywhere (well not everywhere, there are none in the bathrooms); i guess people who live near the pacific are used to that, but being from ontario where everything’s more or less flat, it’s really a beautiful sight.

i’m slowly accumulating furniture. the good thing about there being a lot of turnover in this area is that there are lots of people with too much leftover furniture and want to get rid of it quickly and cheaply. it might not be the best looking piece, but you can’t really beat the price.

the cafe here has a good price-to-value ratio given that the standard of living is high. basically, they don’t try and gouge you nor kill you with fat/grease/oil etc.

free drinks include free milk, not just pop/coffee/tea. wow. but tp is still 1 ply.

everything here has basically the same number on the price tag as it does in canada, a lot of things actually have a higher number. even walmart isn’t really that cheap when you compare against the canadian walmart.
