i installed the new version of firefox and thunderbird. i’ve been using them awhile as my default programs altho they haven’t reached version 1.0 yet. so i had a fun time upgrading both of them as they didn’t keep any of my settings! firefox wasn’t that bad, i had to re-configure it, reinstall my extensions and then restart before my extensions were active. thunderbird was a pain in the ass, why did it force me to re-enter and setup all my email accounts? i don’t want to spend half an hour doing that.

anyways, the trick is to copy your prefs.js to your new profile directory, but even then it screwed up some of my paths so i had to reconfigure it. i think it’s retarded that you have to waste all this time upgrading; they should take a cue from microsoft and make everything backwards compatible (but maybe skip the no matter what the cost part).
