the return of the king was alright, i didn’t think it was as good as critics were saying but i wasn’t disappointed with how it turned out. some parts seemed kinda too drawn out, like the denoument and even some of the fight scenes; maybe it was because i already knew what was going to happen or maybe because it was three and a half hours long! i can’t imagine how anyone can watch all three movies in one sitting, although i do want to see the extended versions of all three back to back at some point.

went down to nathan phillips to do some skating again on saturday, the ice was actually even worse than when i went two weeks ago if that’s possible, and it was too crowded as always. actually it’s starting to get frustrating that you can’t go anywhere quickly on the ice surface, but the caveat to that is that you don’t have as many 10 year olds zooming around your legs. it’s not even that nice down there this year, for some reason they haven’t turned on the lights under the arches over the ice surface this year, so you’re skating in the dark most of the time. we did win a cd that the radio djs were giving out, actually it was kinda dumb cuz they had the person who was giving them out walk around following directions over the loudspeaker. she was supposed to give one to the nearest couple on her left, but i shouted out and we got it even tho we were like 15 feet behind her!

saw the lion king at the princess of wales theatre. it was pretty good, the set designs and costumes were neat. i was impressed at how the cast was able to project their voice throughout the theatre (or maybe i’m wrong and they were miked, but their voices weren’t loud like i was watching a movie loud) so i suspect it was training and acoustics.
