those chinese duckling tours (you know the ones that scurry your around in tour buses to 35346354 different destinations in 3 days) have really small margins, usually it looks like the price of the trips would barely pay for the however many nights of hotel motel bills. of course everyone figures that the motels give the agencies discounts since they bring in 40 odd customers, but even then it would be difficult for the agencies to make money. i was thinking that maybe the agencies also get a cut from the various establishments they bring their tours too. say for example they take you to eat at an expensive restaurant. you’re not expected to eat there, but if you don’t you would lose face. and you know how important it is for chinese people to not lose face. anyways to have 40 people order $50 meals each on a weeknight would be tremendous boost for any restaurant so i wouldn’t be surprised if they would pay tour agencies $10 a person to bring them in. ah the shadowy ways of chinese businesses. ugh i have this habit of spreading the work done on my site over multiple computers, which means i have this problem where i can never keep track of where the most recent copy of my files are. i know the solution to my problem is as simple as a cvs, but that seems like overkill for a small site such as mine; plus i don’t want to run an additional server. plus plus it would make my site seem more like work and less like a hobby. hrmm decisions decisions.
