and we’re back. my forum borked but aside from that i think everything went smoothly. as you can see there’s a new design & layout, but there are also a bunch of structural changes behind the scenes (ie dynamic pages done in php). not terribly interesting but i may get into it more on a later post.
on friday night, i went to the official opening of the yonge & dundas square. i hadn’t even heard about it until my friends and i were downtown (i guess it’s another one of those waterloo-bubble effects) but hey, who wouldn’t want to go celebrate a concrete square. newayz, the headliners were snow and treble charger but there were also a variety of other acts (cirque de soleil, tso, fireworks). it seems that everytime there’s a celebration in toronto the cirque de soleil perform so i wasn’t really that interested. fortunately we were smart and didn’t arrive til snow came on stage;
snow was alright, he only has what…4 well known songs and he did them all. i only know one song by treble charger so i was like whatever, but they did a pretty good set. they had a lot of energy (compared to snow or the orchestra) but maybe it was just the type of music. i actually got on one of those huge plasma screens and of course i did that normal pointing & “hey we’re on tv” type thing. it all happened too fast, i wanted to take a picture of me taking a picture.
although even if i were quick enough and got one away it won’t have turned out. i tried taking pictures a couple of times friday but every single time there wasn’t enough light so the lens stayed open for too long and the picture turned out blurry. instead i played around with the movie mode which is pretty cool (i hadn’t tried it before till then), but i was too far away to actually film anything worthwhile.
