it’s too bad about the leafs, but i think their string of overachieving in the playoffs had to come to an end. i really thought that they should have been eliminated in the first round against the islanders last year, but they were pretty lucky and got all the way to the semis. well this year, lady luck was busy in minnesota and anaheim.

overall, i didn’t do so well on my predictions. i went 4 for 8 but if you could’ve forseen that both colorado and detroit would lose, you would have made a lot of money! fortunately, this really opens up the west where vancouver’s almost guaranteed to beat the wild. i don’t think the wild will surprise vancouver, the canucks already had a good scare against the blues so they know to play gritty. same with dallas, they should dispose of the ducks.

in the east, the philly-ottawa series is going to be pretty close. both teams have a lot of firepower but i have to give it to ottawa because they’re healthier. I guess philly wants revenge for last year’s first round defeat at the hands of ottawa, but i think they might be worn down from the toronto series. new jersey should defeat tampa, khabibulian’s playing better and should have a good series, but the devils have too much experience and talent over tampa. i know i said that last round about washington and tampa still beat them, but after the first round the upsets are harder to come by. hopefully.
