i made some changes, you might not notice them because they’re nothing major, but i just didn’t feel like waiting until my next design to add them. they’re more an adoption of web design best practices. the font size of my blog entries will now follow whatever you set in your browser (smallest -> largest) instead of fixing it at 10pt or 8pt. the next thing i’m going to work at is prolly making my design liquid, meaning it will spread out over whatever you set the width of your browser to be. i’m not very comfortable doing that yet tho; i like fixing the width of everything rather than letting you muck around with it. i also changed the color of links so hopefully they’re more readable. so yeah, nothing you’ll notice too much.
i don’t have any constructive insight to add regarding the war aside from war is bad. two things related to the war come to mind. first is how useless all the anti-war protests are. yesterday, much of the san francisco downtown district was blocked by protesters, and i heard that in toronto, the intersection of yonge and bloor was blocked by protesters lying in the middle of the road. i think the only effect this has is to infuriate residents of the city. bush seems hell-bent on abusing his manifest destiny to attack iraq no matter the costs so these outbursts don’t seem like they can dissuade him. i question even the use of proletarian demonstrations in changing the way of governments; it’s all about the corporations, lobbyists, and the bling-bling. the only time they listen to us is when we decide who we want in power, or maybe i’m still cynical of the government because i’m young?
the other thing is how the world economic leaders were forcasting that markets will crash if there’s a war. today the markets had three digit gains … that’s not a crash. i’m not sure if it’s because they’re not very good at predictions or they thought that saddam would retaliate with some super weapon of mass destruction. of course, it might still happen but i’m just surprised that the markets went up and by so much.
