Today was the Trade Deadline, or the third most exciting day in the hockey season. Or so it should be, but it hardly ever is. The networks have been building the day up to be An Event with numerous promos and commercials, and it was promising with franchise player Rick Nash on the market; but the day ended up deflating with very few moves and hardly any “names”.

The Leafs have been slumping lately, and free falling out of a playoff spot, so there was a lot of talk that we would trade for a goaltender or one of our expiring contracts. Or better yet, some of our dead-weight-contract players for picks or prospects. Instead all the Leafs ended up doing was a prospect trade (which might turn out or it might not).

For a year that started promising; we finally had the right mix of skill and players to make the playoffs, it has started to go sour rather quick. Well at least the Capitals and their Stanley Cup aspirations with Tomas Vokoun are in as bad a shape.
