After Norway, we decided that going through Scandinavia would be too expensive and decided to skip Sweden, Denmark, etc and instead fly down to the (hopefully) more affordable Central Europe. The prime destination was Prague so that’s where we decided to go to first!

After Prague, we planned to take an overnight train to Krakow in Poland. Krakow is also near the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz so we’d take a side trip there before heading to Warsaw (which seems like Chopin central). When planning this part of the trip, we had great difficulty trying to figure out how to get to Helsinki (which we needed to be at for our next leg). None of the flights were cheap and/or convenient. Finally to make things work, we decided to fly out of Warsaw and into Riga, Latvia (arriving around 11PM); then stay in Riga overnight, and then fly out again at 1PM to Helsinki. This basically added a stay in Riga, but we couldn’t really do anything as there was no time to see it!
