this article on a new technique to find pirated music doesn’t seem to make all that much sense…apparently they scour the web and p2p to look for files that have the same “signature” as copyrighted songs and emails letters of infringement…where do they get the email addresses from?…and they also say that it doesn’t require any digital watermarks so it is “backward compatible” to old works, so that means there’s nothing to differentiate a copy that someone encoded themselves or an illegal one…which means they just assume everything is illegal…it really just sounds like someone’s last ditch attempt to blow a dot-com bubble for themselves.
