Remember my horror story about being confused about our hotel in Korea? Well, we were lucky and avoided a big problem (hopefully the last).
We’re still in Taipei, but flying to Korea today. I was still quite confused on how to get around so started checking up how to get from the airport to our hotel. After some digging, I found out that Google Maps placed our hotel at the same exact location as the The Shilla hotel in Seoul. Even well you zoom in all the way. So either there are two hotels in the exact same spot, or they are of the same name, or there is a mess up.
After some more digging, I found the real location of our hotel, and it’s nowhere near The Shilla (nor is it on the same subway line nor do you take the same bus from the airport). Google Maps doesn’t seem to understand Korean addresses because regardless whether I enter the address from my confirmation email, or the address from the hotel’s website, I can’t get GMaps to parse it. If I had put my faith behind Google Maps, we would have been totally lost.
