On Sunday, Pauline and I met up with Peter, Rachel, Matt, Satrukaan, ZMP and Sophia for dinner. It had been awhile since we had met up; although not much has changed except that everybody now drives (well except for Satrukaan hahahah but that’s a story in itself hahaha). We decided to try Moxie’s which had recently opened at the Scarborough Town Centre.

I was surprised by Moxie’s actually; I’ve been to the one at Fairview Mall, and in fact I live near another Moxie’s. The Scarborough Town Centre one looked really nice. It’s easily the classiest/posh-est/stylish restaurant around the area now, much better than Jack Astor’s and Milestones. The prices are somewhat reasonable, maybe $3-$4 more than Milestones. We also had a noob waiter which was pretty funny. He wasn’t noob in a sense that he didn’t know what to do, it just seemed like he was Trying Really Hard. He preemptively brought refills when our glasses were only half empty (OK, well I suppose half the cup was ice anyways), and was over-attentive. He also had a weird habit of calling people who were not directly in front of him, “Big Man” or “Little Missus”. For example, “Big Man in the corner”.

But overall, the dining experience wasn’t bad per se. I had a problem however, with the food. It wasn’t particularly bad, but it seemed like the effort was pretty shoddy. In my salad, I had a corner of pomegranate. Matt’s steak came with “veggies” but the veggies were 2 uncut, stalks of carrot. Pauline had chicken in her pasta, but only 1 clump (since it was only partially cut). On the other hand, everything was presented nicely, so maybe the kitchen was just lacking knives on a Sunday night?
