The Edmonton Oilers are a different team this year. They sitll have their speed and Canadian grit, but they’ve made several moves the past year to help them get where they are (also evidence that the salary cap is helping the poorer teams).

In the off season, they traded for Pronger — one of the top defencemen in the league, and Peca — one of the best defensive forwards in the league. The barely lost anything in those trades, Brewer — an offensive defencemen, and some no namers.

At the trade deadline, they picked up Samsonsov — one of the better b-list stars in the league, and Roloson. Roloson has surprised me, he’s solid but not all star like the way he is playing currently.
