Over The Hedge is about a racoon (voiced by Bruce Willis) who has to replace the food stash of a black bear (voiced by Nick Nolte) after he accidentily dropped it off a cliff and in front of a MAC truck. So RJ the racoon walks toward the city until he comes to the edge of a new suburban housing development which happens to be the home of a group of naive rodents that have just awoken from hibernation.
Latching on their instinct enthusiasm to stock up food for the coming winter (only 274 days away) RJ convinces them to help him complete his goal, but in the process comes to realize that he doesn’t feel to good about double crossing his new “family”. Being a kids movie (hey it was rated G), RJ does the obvious at the end. I will have to give this clichéd movie 2 out of 5 stars.
Some notes: 1) This will not be the last of movies like this as I saw about 5 copy-cat animated films before the opening credits. 2) The entire soundtrack was performed by Ben Folds, kinda like what Jack Johnson did for Curious George.
