I’ve been playing around with Upcoming.org as a means to organize and plan activities for our elec class. It’s pretty neat but relies on a friends structure to manage private events.

I want the events I create to be private, otherwise everyone on the interweb can see (and attend) them. The only way to do this it seems is to have all your attendees on your friends list. This is tough to do when I have to convince everyone to sign up :(.

As a side note, I noticed that upcoming is probably the only site which when you goto it with a www. prepended (i.e. www.upcoming.org), it will remove the www. The www is supposed to denote a website, so many sites require it (i.e. all the UW sites), but this is the opposite case.
