MySpace, another one of those social networking site is now the fifth most popular website on the internet, joining common names such as Yahoo, Google, and eBay at the top. It has ascended the ranks quickly, with more than 200,000 new users per day! Like Friendster before it though, it may just be a passing fad; but goes beyond purely dating by also being a promotion engine for bands.
As popular as it is, I think it is fairly unknown if not in Canada, than with my peers. I don’t know anyone with a MySpace account, do you (well I have one, but aside from me…)? So if this site is already so popular, imagine the potential when it reaches its untapped markets.
Quickies:
- I used to get confused between MySpace and MSN Spaces. The names are just too similar.
- The site looks horrible and is difficult to navigate (at least when I first signed up), but then eBay and Craigslist both look crappy too.
- Why does Frienster lose popularity while MySpace gains users?
- The MySpace founders have a sketcy history.
