The trip to London started off slowly, we had to arrive three hours before the flight time to get our tickets and check in and so we ended up sitting around Terminal 3. So after a long while we finally got on the plane to start our 8 hour flight over. It was a red-eye so I had planned to catch up on sleep; unfortunately they decided to serve us a meal at 1:30AM EST, 2 hours into the flight. That was a weird time for a meal in London or Toronto time. After that, I managed to get a few hours of restless sleep before we got another snack at 5:30 EST. Also they showed Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (seen it already), and Walk The Line (trying to sleep).
Once at the airport, I went through immigration and got asked a couple of interesting questions. They wondered what I did and how I paid for tuition, so I had to give them a whole explanation about what coop is; then they asked about how I paid for the trip which I thought was kinda redundant since I explained about coop already.
From the airport, we took Hotelink that was included in our package (luckily as otherwise it would have cost £36 or $72CAD return!). The first part of the trip is over the Gatwick Express and the second part is by mini-bus from London Victoria station to the hotel. Our trip actually took a really long time because traffic was gnarled due to a Brazilian state visit.
Luckily, we didn’t have a problem on the way back as Hotelink picked us up at 6 in the morning. Unfortunately that meant getting up at 5AM for a flight that left at 10:30AM! The flight again had a meal, a snack and four beverage services; they showed 3 movies: Yours, Mine and Ours (??), Pride and Prejudice (I reviewed it), and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. We were delayed in both London and Toronto and I guess it also didn’t help much that we arrived when everyone was leaving for March Break vacations! But I came back in one piece and I’ll blog more about what we saw in the next few days.
