I have only a passing interest in the election, so if I were to be your average slightly informed voter, I would be scratching my head at the incredulous importance of advertising funding.
Sure, I agree that the small issue of ad sponsorship is important in a larger context as it demonstrates the integrity of the Liberal party. However, the constant attack and rebuttals obfuscate my casual observation of what the actual issues are (aside: I saw a Liberal commercial that implies that Harper is funded by George W. Bush?!).
Maybe I’m cynical, but I get the feeling that a chunk of the population is wondering how to vote when the only issue they hear about is advertising (as an exercise, draw a parallel between Bush raising a fury about terrorists after 9/11 thereby allowing him to hide other issues in the closet, with Harper sparking a media frenzy over advertising).
