David Ben is a former tax lawyer turned magician who has written a book called Advantage Play which I just recently finished reading.
I picked it up for cheap (a buck!) in Vancouver a long while back and never got around to reading it till now. The concept is interesting, how do you apply principles of magic to solve problems? The stories are captivating to read but the meat of the book, that is the methodology isn’t all that innovative.
One of the axioms they mention is that the audience remembers the effect instead of how it was accomplished but unfortunately for Mr. Ben this was not the case in his book. I enjoyed the effect of using magic examples to support his points, but the remaining sections left me thinking that it was dumb and a boring read.
