Just for fun, I thought I would post this quiz thing for y’all (and me) to answer. It’s called The Cube and based on some book but I guess since it’s free on the web I won’t need to buy the book. I’ll post the key/meaning in a couple of days so you have time to fill it out (or I guess you can search for it).
- Imagine a desert landscape. It’s very simple: horizon, sand, sky, whatever you see when you think of a desert.
So for some reason, instead of a desert I thought of an island with yellow sand, a palm tree on one side and nice clear blue water surrounding it. The elevation is slightly higher in the middle than the edges. - In this desert there is a cube! What does the cube look like? What’s it made of (if you know)? What color is it? How big? Is it sitting on the sand, or in some other position? How close or far away is it?
The cube is translucent with the edges slightly glowing. It’s big and fills up most of the view, like 120% the height of the palm tree. It’s floating slightly above the sand. Since it occupies so much of the view, you’re up close to the cube. - In this desert there is also a ladder. Where is it (in relation to the cube)? What is it made of? What position is it in? Does it have many rungs? A few rungs?
I thought of your generic wooden ladder that’s say 8-10 ft with the normal number of rungs. I didn’t actually place it anywhere in the picture, but I guess I’ll put spanning the top of the cube. Apparently the top of the cube is open so you could fall in. it’s like a box more than a cube, good thing that ladder is there. - In this desert there now appears a horse. Where is the horse? What color is it? What is it doing? Does it have on a saddle or bridle, or not?
So this horse is dark brown, either standing around or grazing on grass/plant life at the base of the palm tree. So it is outside the cube evidently and it doesn’t have a saddle or bridle. - Now, somewhere in the desert there is a storm. What kind of storm is it? Where is it? And does it affect the cube, the ladder, the horse, or not?
There’s a storm with dark clouds, thunder and lightning off in the distance. Doesn’t affect anything but it seems to cover a lot of the horizon. - Finally, somewhere in the desert are flowers. Where are they (in relation to the cube, ladder, horse, storm)? What kind are they? Are they many or few? Scattered or clustered?
There are redish-pink flowers with big petals in a big circle surrounding the cube, horse and palm tree (remember I first thought of it as an island). The flowers have white centers and they’re facing us. Few? clustered? don’t know. Why are there flowers in a desert?
Stay tuned for the psychoanalysis in the next few days? Maybe I should have looked at the key before I did the quiz.
