I’ve seen a lot of commercials for Everybody Hates Chris (play on Everybody Loves Raymond I guess?) and it seemed kind of funny, so I actually watched the series premiere. You know what? while those commercials were like a movie trailer and gave away most of the funny jokes in the first show, I still enjoyed it. Much like the review on Slate suggests, it feels like a family comedy; but I would classify it as a feel good family comedy. The family dysfunction is not the source of the laughs as it is in Malcolm In The Middle and because of that I find it more clever.

It looks like it’ll be a good show and I’m going to add it to my list of shows to watch. Summary? It’s like the 70s show in the 80s with black people, that’s PG, narrated by one of the leading comics of our generation, and with the hip style of the shaft generation.
