i downloaded the mandrake 8.1 iso and installed it on my old computer (dual boot with win98se)…i had heard it was the most user friendly linux install so i didn’t think i would be in too bad a shape…newayz i installed it and tried the expert install and it was pretty easy…i didn’t have to configure anything i just had to pick my partitions etc…it detected my sound card, video card, network card and everything fine…and it went pretty smooth too…if i ran it on dummy mode i think that i would rank it at the same difficulty as a windows install…and once i got booted up it looked pretty decent too…the bad news is that it ran horribly slow on my machine (gnome & booting up especially) and i didn’t know where to find anything (and there are sooo many options!)
