while i was back in toronto, i started listening to some of the cds that i’ve copied (err i mean borrowed) but haven’t gotten around to listening to.

interpol’s turn on the bright lights and antics – some highlights, but i don’t understand what the hype is all about.

the libertines’ up the bracket – nay. why did i find their self titled to be so good?

the magnetic fields’ i – for pretty simple, classical-esque music it is indeed pretty good.

garden state soundtrack – half great, half good.

radiohead’s hail to the thief – not as weird as their previous two but still a little too far out for me.

sylver’s nighttime calls – more trance-y now so not as good.

the flaming lips’ yoshi battles the pink robots – hrmm this is supposed to be their good one right? i don’t like it

the flaming lips’ the soft bulletin – same as above, i can’t get into them.

the shins’ chutes too narrow – i didn’t find it too interesting at the beginning, but it grows on you.

neko case’s the tigers have spoken – did you know, this is a country album? it’s also a live album too. boo x 2

the rapture’s echoes – so apparently this was pitchfork’s #1 album of 2003? don’t see why…

the fiery furnaces’ blueberry boat – more half spoken word, half really simple music (a la magnetic fields). if this is the way indie is going, it’s too weird for me.

green day’s american idiot – this is a good album with stellar singles.

so of these, i think my buys (used of course) would be the shins, the garden state soundtrack, and the magnetic with radiohead, green day and the interpol albums as maybes.
