i’m been back in the toronto now, and i get to have a great time unpacking all my seattle stuff and then packing up all my waterloo stuff. awesome. anyways, i’m having some trouble nowadays setting up my cellphone.
i already have a gsm phone, so i want to subscribe to either fido or rogers. i also don’t want to sign a one year or more contract because i’m not sure if i’ll be in canada after the next four months. anyways, so i figured i would do prepaid.
i originally wanted to continue with rogers since i had one of their sim cards from before, however they have some stupid policy where i can’t a sim card that’s been on a monthly plan with a prepaid plan. so i have to pay an extra twenty-five bucks to get a new sim card. oh yeah and you have to add on top of that a $25 activation fee. i guess they don’t me to activate my phone there.
so i looked up fido. they’re more promising but since i don’t have a fido sim card, i would have to pay $25 for a sim. they don’t have an activation fee so it makes the deal more palatable. unfortunately for them, it costs 15 cents to receive an sms sent to you thru email. that in itself is a deal breaker no matter how cheap fido is since i use text more than voice.
anyways, so it looks like the ball is back in rogers’ court. i just can’t decide whether to get prepaid or a monthly plan. the idea of adding an extra 30% on top of the plan cost for various stupid fees doesn’t sound like the greatest of ideas…
