last thursday (or was it friday?) i caught the apprentice on tv as i’ve heard good things about it (ie that it wasn’t that bad of a reality show). the premise for this week was that the two teams had to see which team rented out their flat for the highest markup given a couple days of (their) work in cleaning and decorating it. one of the teams paid a sub-contracter to do some renevations which i thought was kinda cheap, while the other team did everything themselves (or so it looked). the hard working team also had some black girl who got “hit” on the head by some concrete dust and conveniently had an excuse not to get down and dirty like the rest of her team. for some reason, that seems very stereotypical of her although i’m not sure where i get that impression from!

it looks as tho the producers are manipulating the viewers; they edited the video to make her look especially bad: when she took a break cuz she felt dizzy, they shot her playing b-ball with kids. also, apparently one of the people who took a lease was a reporter and talked about her appearance on the apprentice. from her story, it looks like things didn’t happen as it did on tv. altho i must admit that it did look very questionable when both groups rented out their flats in half a day!
