something in class the other day reminded me of the two out of three rule which basically means that although in the best case you would want all three of the given options, you can only ever get two. examples include

food: healthy, cheap, plentiful
software: intuitive, free, useful
work: fun, easy, high pay
residence: clean, cheap, close

funny thing is, i can’t remember which class it was or how it applied to the case (i think it was motors?). anyways i’m renaming this as kevin’s first law, my addition to the universal laws (i especially like gopnik’s gender curves)
