the specs are out on sony’s upcoming gameboy killer. it’s gonna have two processors, one’s for processing and the other is a multimedia engine; combined they have the power of a ps2. remember this is a handheld, so that’s some serious gaming power on the go. in fact, it has so much power that sony should just replace their line of pdas with this thing, it certainly has the capability to do everything a cliĆ© can. i think this is one case where convergence would be beneficial; my pockets are only so big! you might tack on some wireless and then people can even multiplayer against each other on the subway. of course they’re going to do that, cliĆ©’s are more targeted towards businesses than avid gamers. what it does look like the psp (what does that stand for? playstation portable? sounds like engrish to me) will do is combine an md player with a gameboy. this is a bad idea. i’d want an md player that is as small as possible so it can fit in my pocket and not bother me when i’m doing stuff. i don’t want an md player in the form factor of a gba! alternatively, i want a handheld that i can hold comfortably in my hand to play games, not a flat square. this is not looking good for the psp though i expect it will still be successful.
