i haven’t posted many links to my blog recently and i can attribute that to two factors: i’ve started an mini-site where some friends and i can post interesting links that we find (i think this is a better way than icq’ing 25 people on your list or getting the same forwarded link 25 times) and secondly i’ve tried to be more meaningful with my posts, that is i try not to post a link unless i have some commentary on it. anyways, i feel like posting some links that i’ve had bookmarked for awhile but never really had a chance of posting. the first one is an amateur’s account at the world championships of poker. a writer used the advance for an article he was writing to enter the championship and then wrote a first person account of it. a new meme in new york is to have so-called flash mobs. these are basically inexplicable public gatherings that appear out of nowhere and then dissipate as quickly as they were formed. it’s almost like an inside joke between those involved, it takes a lot of planning but when it happens it leaves all passerby’s scratching their head going wtf just happened.
