would you buy a mixtape from your favorite artist? like the article said, it’s an interesting idea; you get insight on what their musical tastes are and what songs influence their lives, but i also think of it as an extremely easy way to capitalize on an existing fan base. creating a mix tape doesn’t require much time in the studio, someone just has to make a list of songs. somehow, i don’t think any of the savings is passed to the consumer. that’s not to say that it’s really easy to do, whoever’s making the mix tape still has to get permission from the various record companies that own the copyrights. therein lies another problem. say i want a song on the mix, but i can’t get the record company to release it, what happens? well i don’t think the song will make it onto the cd. so then are these mix tapes the original mixes that the artists picked?
kinda like my post yesterday about engineering a record, you wouldn’t really know a lot about love hotels unless you’ve been in japan. i’ve heard of them but i didn’t really know anything else aside from what they’re for, now i know more.
finally, here’s a blog by snoop dogg (i can rhyme like a rappa). it’s not really him, but even an imitation of him is pretty cool. offtopic: it’s kinda weird how i hadn’t blogged any links all month considering that’s usually where i get my content from.
