for awhile, i thought that text on the monitor at work looked especially nice; but i attributed it the lcd. turns out that it was because i had cleartype font smoothing turned on, which antialiases all the fonts. i’m not sure why it’s not on as default because it really does what it says: it makes text clearer (and a lot nicer).
