some pretty cool graphs over at the google 2002 year-end zeitgeist. they have trend graphs that show how popular a certain search item, like shakira, was at a given time compared to others similar to it (like eminem). it’s nice to see some non-top-10 list stats, but it’s also a pretty good reflection of how effective marketing and the media are on people. for example, there were more searches for eminem near the end of the year; probably because there was a lot of hype around his new album around then.
speaking of celebrities; i’m not quite sure why, but i found this j.lo rumor to be pretty funny.
i want to post this story about a mac owner who got his laptop scammed on ebay and ended up catching some big counterfeit ring, but the site’s getting major hits today so it’ll prolly won’t work. newayz it’s an interesting read if you’re ever bored.
