the top ten britons of all time (well it is from the bbc), #1 is winston churchil, and while i admit he was a very strong leader during WW2, i would’ve thought that that others that were ranked lower would win. on the scale of things, i don’t think that churchill can compare to shakespeare (#5) or darwin (#4). but whom i thought would steal the whole deal is sir issac newton (he was ranked #6). i mean if it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have a whole branch of math (calculus) or physics (dynamics/kinematics); without those you wouldn’t really have engineering. hrmm. you can say that shakespeare shaped modern english or darwin shaped…well actually i’m not sure if his advances in evolution theory had a larger impact than in religion, but newayz, newton is engineering. you can’t beat that. on a side note, how did dave beckham get on the list at #33? other odd ones: boy george at #46, king arthur at #51 (he’s fictional), jk rowling at #83
