This year’s August was another instance where I spent the month vacationing and took breaks from vacationing to work. It started with the Civic holiday long weekend (where we didn’t go anywhere but still – it was a break from working). I worked 2 days and then flew out to Calgary on Thursday evening for the weekend.
After coming back Sunday evening, I had a week of work then flew out on Friday evening for a two week vacation. We returned on Saturday evening and I took a break to go back to work for the remaining three days in August. Labour day weekend is coming up after this week which means more time off!
Being on vacation so much, it was hard to keep up with things. But thanks to wifi access, and bringing a smart phone on vacation, we were able to keep up a bit. In Toronto, Jack Layton died and an earthquake occurred. The US had its credit rating lowered thanks to a lack of confidence in their political machine, which coupled with more eurozone instability caused financial markets to suffer again. Hurricane Irene hit the east coast and caused low lying areas of New York city to be evacuated. Hmm, I think that’s it; but it’s a lot of big news!
