Radiohead was one of my most favorite bands. I’m not sure if it’s because I really did like their music or whether it was because of music herd mentality. They do have some great music – The Bends is a timeless classic for me (whereas OK Computer isn’t).

As a dutiful fan, I bought all of their studio albums from Pablo Honey all the way to In Rainbows (I paid full retail price for it, not 0¢). I haven’t and I don’t plan on buying their latest, King of Limbs. Ever since Kid A (so basically after OK Computer – their height of stardom) I’ve questioned why I followed Radiohead. Each of their CDs had a couple of good hits, but it also had a lot of head-scratching crap. This is most often defended as critically-acclaimed music, or Thom Yorke using his voice as an instrument, or art. Whatever. Maybe I don’t understand music enough to get it.

The songs are not so bad that it’s noise, but I don’t want to listen to them either. It reminds me of the Classical radio station. They play a couple of well-known hits but most of the time they are playing generic Classical music that is forgettable. That’s what Radiohead sounds like to me!

And you know what, Arcade Fire is the same way!
