Someone gave us gift certificates to Scarborough Town Centre as a wedding gift, which was kind of inconvenient because we don’t frequent Scarborough much anymore. Plus they looked like oversized cheques, were they even real? Haven’t malls converted to gift cards yet?

In any case, I went over to EB and spent some gift certificates. Surprisingly, they worked! For $50 and 84¢s; I bought Karaoke Revolution present: American Idol Encore (KRPAIE) which included the game and a USB mic. Pfft why would I get a karaoke game you ask? Because unlike Guitar Hero and even Rock Band, it had good songs! I knew and liked over half the songs in the game.

You can customize your character to sing on stage while you’re belting out the songs. I made my character to look like this:

The graphics are pretty dopey, everyone is a hunchback or Obama-thin, which looks really awkward when your character is dancing on screen. But if you can get past that and concentrate on the singing, it is in fact pretty fun. Here’s me singing Haddaway’s What is Love?

The best part is when the judges, Randy, Paula and Simon diss your horrible performance at the end. Not mine though, because I’m a star.
