July started off with a road trip to Pittsburgh for some sightseeing and shopping (it was a steel!), and ended with a couple of street festivals (1, 2). In between, I started trying to make progress on my DVD backlog (which I have since abandoned, maybe I’ll make that another New Years’ Resolution). July was also the month that I started receiving monetary support from MBNA in the form of cheques that my mind could write but my wallet would never cash. Fortunately, my last letter seemed to have killed our one-way relationship.

Over August’s Civic holiday weekend, Joe, Ida, Pauline and I took a road trip to Quebec City and Montrealmy very first comic (i.e., geek) con and took pictures of various people dressed up in fanboy (and girl) uniforms. It was so fun, and so worth the $25 I paid. I also bought a new computer after talking about it since February and went to the finals of the (woman’s) Roger’s Cup.

In September, I started playing my new DS and blogging about some of the more interesting games I had been playing. Apparently I played it too much because I quickly broke the hinge (but had it replaced for free). In October, we went cross-border shopping over Canadian Thanksgiving, and Pauline and I went to Vancouver for a couple of days where she attended a conference and I visited the on-location set of Smallville amongst other things.

The highlight of November was going to see The Go! Team in concert, because they had an amazing amount of energy (as did the crowd which started shaking the floor). I also went to the TSO twice in two days. Overall I went to the TSO 7 times this year (should have been 8 except I couldn’t get day-of tickets one time).

This month, I went skating for the first time in a couple of years, and hopefully I’ll go skating a few more times (another New Years’ resolution?). I also saw Jose Gonzalez in concert bringing the total number of non-TSO concerts I went to this year to 3 + 2 free ones. I slacked in my Christmas shopping this year, and waited until the last week, and overall there wasn’t as much Christmas cheer as usual. Part of the reason could be the lack of snow on the ground, even though it looked like there would be a white Christmas with the heavy snowfall in early December.

I hardly went Boxing Day shopping this year because there really wasn’t anything I needed to get that was worth fighting the crowds, and I was going cross-border shopping a day later on my road trip to Detroit and Frankenmuth.
