When I wrote my post about time moving slowly, I got seriously confused. It’s true that I think time is moving slowly, and that things in the past seem far away; but there is also a lot of cruft and junk in between events that I don’t remember. For example, when I was in grad school, there was all this time spent where I was just walking back and forth to school, or playing Warcraft. But I don’t remember watching the clock tick or counting down the hours until I can get out of Waterloo. In a sense, that year passed by quickly and now I’m here working.

The same thing happens at work. Sure, it’s been four months and I have tangible results; but what did I do the last week or the last month? I could probably count it on one hand (actually I started keeping logs) but it’s not like I am consciously waiting to punch the clock. So did time fly through all of those dull experiences, or do I have a helpful, selective memory, or do I not document my life enough?
