I had a nice, unexpected Christmas present from Google AdSense. All of a sudden on Christmas Day, I found that the amount of visitors and revenue I was getting went up by 300%-400%. That was pretty cool, so at first I looked around to see if I got linked somewhere noteworthy (shades of being a Blog of Note). It didn’t seem like I was getting a huge amount of referrers so I was stumped.

Eventually, I figured out that it was due to the millions of people who received new iPods for Christmas and were trying to find free media to fill it with! There were so many that the iTunes Store itself was inaccessible for brief periods, although unfortunately I didn’t get anywhere close to a million hits. The number of visitors have continued to be elevated for the last week and a bit, but it’s slowly returning back to normal. I don’t mind milking the cash cow while it lasts though.
