In the first round, I predicted 7 out of the 8 series winners (only missing Tampa) which I guess is pretty good, but 6 of them were the favorites anyways. It’s also unsurprising that the only upsets were the (4) vs (5) seeds.

Here’s my guesses for round 2:

Vancouver vs Nashville
I watched a lot of the Canucks & Blackhawks series (which was a great series btw) and Vancouver is really strong when it wants to be. Nashville already made history by getting out of the first round, but I think that will be as far as they get.

San Jose vs Detroit
This should be another good series. I think Detroit will win this one, mostly because San Jose has a mess in goal.

Washington vs Tampa
The battle of the South East. Tampa looks stacked “on paper”, but they had a lot of trouble against a gritty but crippled Pittsburgh team. Washington is not crippled, and should be grittier than years past so I think Washington will get to the Conference finals this year.

Philadelphia vs Boston
I watched the last two games of the MTL/BOS series, and both Boston and Montreal were horrible! Montreal had a single strategy, collapse in front of Carey Price to get the puck, and then score in transition. Boston couldn’t coach themselves out of that and looked lost even though they were more skilled and bigger. I don’t have a lot of faith in them against Philly.
